Day with the Bishop Saturday, August 13, 2005, Leipzig Saturday was marked by a visit from Bishop Joachim Reinelt of the Diocese of Dresden-Meißen, who celebrated an ecumenical open-air service with representatives of the Lutheran and French parishes that was attended by 1,500 people. Afterwards, the pop oratorio "...so a new beginning shall remain" in Leipzig's Propstei Church recounted the story of the passion in modern songs. In the evening, everybody once again gathered at the Nikolai stage for music by a number of Christian bands (such as Coloured Rain shown below). The night concluded with a quiet Taizé prayer in St. Nikolai Church.
Sunday, August 14, 2005, Leipzig Sunday was the guests' last day in their host parishes, which began with a multi-lingual mass co-celebrated by the pastors of the host parishes and the international groups (such as the service in the Propstei Church shown below). Afterwards, the Days of Encounter concluded with food, games and music in colourful parish festivals.
Monday, August 15, 2005, Leipzig On Monday, international and German pilgrims left their host or home parishes for Cologne, where the main programme of the World Youth Day 2005 commenced. < 2005/08/10-12 | 2005/08/16-18 > |
