Aspen, Vail Thursday, January 11, 2001 Today, we drive from Moab to Denver. We take a short detour to Aspen and stop at Vail so Nils can check out the ski areas there. There's not much snow at all, though, so the areas aren't too impressive. On our way on to Denver, we pass the highest point we've yet been to in the US - the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70 at over 11,000 feet elevation. We later notice that one of the chips bags in our trunk has popped because of the reduced air pressure - without making too big of a mess, fortunately :-) We drive through Downtown Denver when it's already dark (except for lots of city lights), before we finally check in to our motel. < 01/10/2001 | 01/12/2001 > |
